When it comes to guacamole, one thing’s for certain:  I could easily eat an entire bowl of the stuff all on my own! I’m not saying I’ve done it, I’m just saying I could…  (wink, wink.)  But I suppose if you’re reading this, you probably feel the same way, too.  After all, it’s so creamy and comforting and delicious, isn’t it?  Especially when paired with light and crispy tortilla chips – YUM!

Which is why I felt it was an absolute necessity to come up with a lighter version, which you’ll find below.  The most glorious part of all? You 100% can not tell that this guacamole is lighter, or, what the secret main ingredient is! This new lighter version is still delightfully satisfying, creamy and flavorful, just like the purely avocado type.

This is how you make it:

1. Add the first seven ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until mostly smooth.

2. Transfer this beautiful green mixture to a mixing bowl and gently fold in the fresh pico de gallo. Don’t like one or all of the ingredients in pico de gallo? No problem! It can be left out altogether and the guacamole will still be delicious.

Lighter Guacamole

Makes about 2 cups


1 cup Frozen Peas, thawed

1 Medium/Large Avocado

2 Tb. Lime Juice

2 Tb. Water

1/2 tsp. Cumin

1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder

1/2 tsp. Salt

1/2 cup Fresh Pico De Gallo**

**Fresh pico de gallo can usually be found in the produce section near the pre-chopped veggies and fruit.
