The Ultimate Vegan Halloween Candy List

Ah Halloween – such and fun and beloved holiday! For many, Halloween means enjoying and giving out lots of candy, but for those wanting or needing dairy-free and / or vegan treats, the idea of navigating the  Halloween candy aisle can certainly feel daunting (been there, done that!). But don’t worry, I’m here to show you that there are TONS of vegan Halloween candy options out there!

What makes candy vegan?

Alright, let’s talk vegan candy basics. For any type of candy to be considered vegan, it needs to be free of the following:

  • Dairy, which can be listed as milk, whey, or casein, just to name a few.
  • Confectioner’s Glaze, AKA shellac, is hardened lac bug secretions. It is added to candy to give it a shiny appearance.
  • Honey, which as we all know is made by bees.
  • Gelatin, which is made by boiling crushed bones, skins and hooves from various animals.
  • Eggs or egg whites, sometimes found in candy corn.

It seems the biggest offender on the above list is dairy, especially now that more and more people are discovering they have a dairy allergy, sensitivity, or are lactose intolerant.

So whether you’re needing vegan Halloween candy options to bring to school parties, give to your kids, give out to trick-or-treaters, or just simply eat in heaps in front of your TV while watching scary movies (just kidding, I never do that…  ok, not in the last 24 hours), then you’ve come to the right place. Check out the list below to find tons of delicious options!

Without further ado, here’s my ultimate vegan Halloween candy list. You’re not going to believe how many familiar, old-time candies made this list!
