Nothing says St. Patrick’s Day quite like a Shamrock Shake, and with this healthy vegan version, anyone can feel good about enjoying them, and at any time of the day – even breakfast!
St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun holiday. We go all out in decorating the house, and it’s so fun to dress up in green and celebrate by eating green foods with the family – especially minty sweet ones!
The famed Shamrock Shake is a big seasonal favorite treat for many, which is why I wanted to create a healthy vegan version that anyone can enjoy. This blended deliciousness is cool and minty and sweet and refreshing, but best of all, it’s made with ingredients you can feel good about.
Why this Recipe Works:
- This delicious vegan Shamrock Shake has the same flavor and flair as the classic version, but with a healthy twist.
- The two added surprise ingredients (white beans and spinach) up the fiber, protein and nutrients of this shake, but you what’s amazing is that you can’t taste them at all. Not into the idea of adding beans? No prob – you can use vanilla plant based protein powder in its place. See the recipe below for specifics.
- These shakes are delicious enough to have for dessert but healthy enough to have for breakfast!
- The mint extract gives this shake a wonderfully refreshing mint flavor – YUM.

How to Make Healthy Vegan Shamrock Shakes:
1. Simply add all of your ingredients to a blender, with the ice and bananas being the ingredients furthest away from the blades.
2. Then, blend until completely smooth.
3. Pour into glasses and enjoy! Want to save some for later? No prob. These shamrock shakes will keep in the fridge for about 2-3 days.
Top Tips for Making Healthy Vegan Shamrock Shakes:
- Feel free to get creative with garnishes. I like to top with vegan whipped cream, but topping with non-dairy chocolate chips or even chocolate cookie crumbles would be quite tasty, too.
- Make sure you peel your bananas before freezing them.
- These shakes are best enjoyed right away, but if you’re not enjoying immediately, this shake will last in the fridge for about 2-3 days.

this looks wonderful but i don’t use banana’s. Is there a work around?
You can try two scoops of vanilla plant based protein powder instead. I bet that’d be really good.
I loved it! It tasted like an ice cream shake. I think this will help me add more greens to my diet. I think I’ll add zucchini too! Thanks for sharing!
Nice!! So happy you like it, Erica. I sometimes add a little bit of frozen cauliflower rice to my shakes, too.
